Fred:

One is, if only to be different, tempted to give the Machiavellian response.
That being:

I assume from your note that you aimed at the snake. That only solved
today's guest problem. Re-targeting would have solved future issues. I was
raised in a rather strict Scottish/English fashion. Thus, while snakes at
the breakfast table could perhaps be tolerated, screaming cannot. I leave it
to your own good judgement as to whether the suggested retargeting involved
the cat or the wife.

Well, sat down this Fathers day for a nice waffle breakfast with the wife,
we have a rather large cat (27 lbs) who loves to hunt, not kill, he comes
through the back door and lays about a 3' rattlesnake at my wifes feet, a
scream like you have never heard, Alfred Hitchcock could certainly not
duplicate it, I have a little placemat in front of the refig so I throw that
over him and find a club, first time I ever used a 4 iron and hit exactly
what I was aiming for on the first swing, well so much for waffles, darn I
hate snakes, for breakfast anyway. "FT"
