In the mid-70's I bought a '59 TR3 in Savannah, GA where I lived. It was
brown (sort of the color of coffee with cream in it, or light chocolate, or,
the color of the TR3 shop book by Autopress ). It had a white top and black
interior.
As far as I can remember, there was no evidence it had ever been repainted.
It was in pretty good shape. I did a little clean up work to it and then had
it repainted British Racing Green. I sold it a couple years later (wish I
had not done that!!)
Has anyone ever heard of "brown" being a TR3 color? It is not a color in any
of the Piggot or other books. At one point in the '70's (or was it early
'80's?) a friend had a Triumph Spitfire that was brown. My TR3 was about
that color, but as I mentioned, as far as I know, my car had never been
repainted.
Now I have a '60 TR3 being restored and plan to paint it signal red with tan
(kind of color of buckskin) top & interior.
