Missing TR4:
The engine was missing this morning under just about any acceleration. I admit I
haven't tried anything yet, but have gathered more information for the Sherlock
Holmes' among us. A. I've had some run-on in the last couple days. And B. a
parts guy thought the pretty darn small play in my distributor rod may be giving
the Pertronix some trouble. So I'm leaning towards:
1. pertronix trouble due to play in dist. rod (it's not much I think, very
little, the parts guy had similar symptoms with MUCH more play).
2. plain bad timing -- though I've changed nothing, and the pertronix shouldn't
be so sensitive to that. (?) But the run-on could be a timing thing, right? And
that could give me the missing under load also?
3. bad seal on the sediment bowl -- I *have* reused it a 1/2 dozen times I
think, but I have one in the glovebox. Could be sucking air under load.
4. coil, plugs, condensor, distributor components....
5. carbs -- could be *a* problem, probably not *this* problem.
I'm going to take on #3 before lunch, since it's the easiest and cheapest. I'm
going to call Pertronix to see if they think the play could be such a factor.
Then list members' favorite #4, then #2, #5.
But if you think it was Colonel Mustard in the garage with a spanner, let me
know. ;-)
