And now a dissenting opinion!  (Hey it's politically correct to offer one)  :)

I have grose jets in the SUs on Huxley and in the 3+ years since I rebuilt the 
carbs, I have had zero problems with them.  I think what
gives most people trouble with grose jets is the seemingly difficult task of 
adjusting the floats.  It is as simple as adding fiber
washers to adjusting the seating position of the grose jet.  Once it is set, 
there is not really any trouble that I have experienced.

Of course, I have 2 in-line fuel filters to keep those nasty little particles 
out of the carbs.
