The only short-coming to ceramic is that the coefficient of expansion for
ceramic is different for that iron and will eventually crack.  Ask any Jag
owner.  An equally robust coating for exhaust manifolds is aluminizing.  An
outfit in Texas called Road Toys will do it for about $45 (US) per
manifold.  A friend of mine had his Austin Healey manifolds done ten years
ago and except where oil has leaked onto the manifold and turned black the
silver coating looks as it did when new.
