For a real durable coating for exhaust manifolds, I can't stress ceramic
coating strong enough. It will survive the heat, that's what it's designed
for.

Eric,
According to the Piggott book, exhaust manifolds were finished
"usually in silver, but sometimes black".
I used Krylon silver exhaust paint. It looked good for one
season. Depending on your restoration philosophy, it looked
perfectly correct as it started to rust in a few spots, just like an
original
TR6 with 5,000 miles on it, back in 1973.
This winter I'm going to try using POR 20 "Brilliant Aluminum"
heat resistant paint, after sandblasting. Some folks go for powder
coat.
