Hi folks. So my baby's crankshaft is scored and my mechanic is going to
pull the engine. I want to get my crank renewed, new main bearings, conrod
bearings, thrust washers and a new oil pump all put in. And new engine
mounts. I'm also going to have the mechanic deal with my grindy
transmission.

Now my question to you knowledgeable folks is this: would you also
inspect/replace the camshaft at this time? And all the pistons and rings
and whatnots? Does one HAVE to have the engine removed to that stuff? I'm
hoping you'll tell me "No, Frank, you can do the pistons and camshaft and
stuff without pulling the engine and so why not do it next winter when
you've recovered financially from this winter."

The car putt-putt-putts along quite well. With improved oil pressure and
fixed transmission, I'd be quite happy. Wouldn't I????
Thanks for any comments you may have.
Frank
