Jim, the fact is that either the diaphragm is good or not. If it is
intermittent, than I would suspect the check valve in the booster assy.
This is the white one way valve that the vacuum hose goes to. You used to
be able to get replacements from the big three, but if you can't find one
I have a good used one -somewhere out in the garage.  To rebuild  the
booster you need some special tools to take the two halves of the assy
apart. I had my Stag booster rebuilt as I didn't want to damage it. I
provided the parts and they charged about $100 for the work.
