Joe, very good point.  In the car in which I am running the DOT5, it has rubber 
hoses, ant not all that new at that!
I had considered firming up the pedal with stainless hoses in order to 
compensate for the squishiness, but the
rubber hoses could be part of the problem themselves.

On thy DOT3 car, I did replace the hoses and it greatly improved the pedal 
feel.  At worst, DOT5 + stainless hoses
will equal DOT3 with rubber!
