Hi Dave
That is probably the same sort of stuff, as well as applying to the contact
area between the pad and piston you should smear a bit along the top and
bottom faces where the pad contacts the calliper.

Here in the states you can get a special anti-squeel paste for the pads. I
can't say how effective it is but I intend to find out as my brakes are
squeeling like a banshee. Quite embarrassing.
