The TR8 engine was an updated vbersion of the Buick engine. The basic
engine was used in Buick specials, Oldsmobile F85s, and Pontiac
Tempests? in model years 1961-63. Thew Olds version differs from the
Buick version in that it has an extra head stud for each cylinder. Some
parts are interchangible with the later Rover versions, but why do so as
almost everything has been improved. The engine was used as a basis for
the Repco-Brabham F1 engine from Austrailia, and in the Rover 3500,
Range Rover, MGBV8, TVR, Morgan +8, Rover SD1 and others. The latest
versions, the 4.0/4.6 are very solid in the bottom end, and have a
crank-driven oil pump which eliminates one of the problem areas, but the
heads are still the limiting factor for serious hp production. John
