Thanks Graham,

We finally had a decent weather day here in Cleveland. The temperature
actually rose to about 50 and guess what, the gap in the windshield actually
shrunk to about an inch from the previous 2 inches. Many responders told me
this would happen and sure enough it did expand. Maybe the chrome stayed the
same and the car shrunk, who knows.
Anyway, the insert actually fit so that it overlapped the larger chrome piece
about 1/4 inch on either side. I wish they simply would make the inserts
larger, as my original message brought on numerous emails citing people
stating they had the same problem. I am not having a problem installing the
insert to either side of the chrome, its just that the insert is to small.
Once again, I thank you very much for your valuable info.
My next endeavor, removing the side dash panels (were the speakers go) and
repaint the words in the clear plastic plinth (Choke, Air-Pull, etc) and
replace with a new (used) dashboard shelf for lack of a better term.
