The most dramatic one I've heard yet is to dead short a fully-charged
battery across two flats of a nut for a second or so.... Is supposed to
heat the nut so quickly that it can be removed before the bolt warms up.
The rust in the threads is supposed to act as an insulator. But, then
again, I'm the person, at fourteen, who tried to hot-start the family
`54 Oldsmobile with my father's favorite flat-blade screwdriver and left
a large glob of deposited metal on the tip.... <g>

Cheers.
