Hi all
A couple of days ago I fitted a new brake master cylinder to my TR6. I
primed
it the best I could, and left bleeding the system to last night. After
dinner I
said to my wife,"I'm going down to the garage for 30 -40 min ,only got a
small job to do on the car".She gave me one of those,I've heard that before
looks,but I was sure it wouldn't take me long.How wrong I was. I started
with the slave cylinder furthest from the master and found the nipple
seized
solid,I tried the other rear cylinder and it was the same.I left both of
these
soaking in penetrating oil.Next I tried the front cylinders,these where ok
but I couldn't get any fluid to flow,so I gave up for the night and had to
suffer the comments from my wife.
I must have lots of air in the master cylinder ,I shall remove the pipes
from the cylinder tonight and see if I can get some flow. I'm not sure
what¹s best for the rear nipples,don't want to snap them ,any ideas.

We've all received that look. I even gave that look to my wife the day she
brought home the 2 week old kitten and she said she would only keep it
until it was weaned. Ha. (Still with us after 8 years)
It is virtually impossible to blead the brakes by one's self. I say
virtually
because I have done a mediocre job by my self. But it sure helps to have
someone else pump the brake pedal as you are trying to bleed.
Also, if you are getting no flow due to gravity the brake hoses may be old
and
swollen and in need of renewal.
As far as the rear cylinders, soak them and wait. Try wrapping on them
with
a hammer (but not too hard). A direct blow straight down on the nipple.
As
you would hit a nail. Or buy new ones, they aren't that expensive.
Good luck. 8 weks before driving season anyway.
