David,
I have been considering this for my TR4 engine. My fan is not a
precision balanced piece and I think it adds to vibration at the
high revs.
I was told to mount a harmonic balancer on the pulley if I
removed the fan. The Racterations website has the part/kit.
They use the words "protect the crankshaft after removing the fan
assembly". I am only passing on the info. I have not decided
how to go about it myself.
Keep us informed on your progress and how it comes out.

Subject: electric fan conversion TR4
Hello
I removed my radiator and mechanical fan today. I never realized
the fan
hub and bolt held everything on to the crankshaft. I am
interested in
getting a replacmenent piece fabricated that doesnt extend
outwards that can
accept a much shorter bolt to crankshaft so I can make my fan a
puller.
This seems like a real simple fab but I have no machinery. Would
I be able
to go to any machine shop and ask them to do this or are there
specialty
shops that I should go to?
