Thanks for all the off-list and on-list answers on the OD
gearbox. I feel much better. Seems the 22/1374 is normal. I
must have been having a "senior moment" when I didn't notice the
1374 in the Moss 6_1374.
Still can't figure why no serial number. But all the bits are
available to get this rebuilt and in my car over the next year or
two.

I got some questions about a gearbox and OD I just bought. I got
it from an estate of a local TR4 guy. See my "parts trip" note.
The gearbox has no serial number on it anywhere... and the A-type
OD plate says it is a 22/1374/017056. According to the Moss
catalog this was not a TR2-TR4 unit. The 22/1374 is the model
and the 017056 is the serial number. Moss says the model number
should be 22/61374, 22/61712 or 22/61753. It looks like the TR4
OD and gearbox in every detail. I measured the mount holes and
all that. Haven't opened it up to check for synchro in 1st. I
only paid $150 for it... so it was bought on the speculation that
I could use it.
It also does not have the top cover drilled for the little
switches and instead has the solenoid wire through some roller
micro switches attached to a bracket that looks like it mounts to
a steering column or something. I could not find the standard
column switch in the parts boxes in the time I had available
today
Anybody know what the 1374 means... where did it come from. Why
no serial number? Are those little switches available and can
you drill and tap the cover for them?
Here is more info. The StanPart number on the gearbox case is
306812. I have a CT22xxx(1963) backup TR4 non-OD gearbox and it
has 304692 case. The parts catalog makes mention of a
reconditioned gearbox unit with a 305xxx case. So I am assuming
the gearbox at least came from some post TR4A car... maybe a
TR250 or other later Triumph.
Any thoughts or info will be welcomed.
