I've had no experience with TR6 aftermarket headers but my experience with them
in the past with a 240z is as follows:
1. They are thinner tubing
2. They are louder as a result.
3. They fracture eventually within a few years.
There may be success stories out there about headers lasting forever and if so
I'd like to hear them.
Now there may be some thick skinned headers out there for TR6s(and expensive)
but if I were in your position I'd try to find a 6 into 2 stock manifold and
build a 2 pipe system from there. This might compromise 1-2 horse power(if that
much) over a header but will last much longer.
I too like the quad look of the Monza's but I hear they are loud as hell(more
so after a long 2 -3 hour ride). Each to his own but your idea of the inline
glass packs to take the edge off sounds like a good idea. Supposedly the
Monza's dont last long either but boy they sure look good.
My stock muffler is about to go and I've got a stock 2 pipe system and all I
plan to do with it is get 2 decent semi-free flow mufflers and flip one of the
pipes over(so each pipe strattles the differential) and put a set of duel tips
on each end(like the Monza setup). I plan to make them exit the rear alot
closer to the sides of the car than the Monza setup(as some complain the
Monza's set up a backdraft of exhaust fumes from being too close to the center).
