It depends on just how bad it is. In general, wires don't go bad, but
connectors and terminal do. If your wiring harness is still intact, and
hasn't been cut up, spliced, chaffed, or otherwise butchered by a PO, then
you may be able to get by with just cleaning and/or replacing connections.
If the wires have gone bad, it will show up as brittle insulation generally
(usually caused by getting too hot, or long term exposure to direct sunlight.
