Fred,
Had the same problem. Is the original shut off still in place? I found mine
would not leak, but would let air into the system causing the same symptoms as
a vapor lock. Pump worked great, could prime the carbs, but no fuel after
running a short while. Finally took the old shut off out and voila! No more
problem. Suggest you give it a try.
Pete

Subject: fuel pump LONG
Listers, I have NOS A/C rebuild kits for the fuel pump on the T/R 3,
after rebuilding, she will only run for a short period of time and then
just cuts-off.. I can get in and drive for 20 miles no problem, next
time she won't start, no gas going to the carbs, pulled the original
fuel shut off, operating O/K, gas going into the pump, even using the
prime handle, she will not stay running. Hit the starter and with the
palm of my hand over the front carb, she will start after a while and
run maybe 1 min. and next time 20 min. and cut off. Went for a 10 mile
run, it ran fine even up to 70 MPH, got home turned it off, she will not
restart, no gas to the carbs, I pulled the line from the pump to the
carbs and it's "0" coming thru, let it sit for 30 min. and she will
start but, only with me priming the carb with my palm, I have changed
the pump 3 times, it is rebuilt exactly as it came apart and according
to the parts manual, I'm at a total loss this has been since Thur.. I
have retraced every step and every part 20 times ( my language is real
bad for 2 days), I'm at a total loss, yes plenty of suction from the cam
as well as the pump handle, but, still no gas going to the carb every
time, only some times and then not for long, any prior experiences or
advice is really needed, Thanks "FT"
