I've heard or read that the overdrive used on many Volvos is similar to the J
type used on the Triumph TR6. Does anybody have any experience or suggestions
about it ? Is it a cheaper way to get an overdrive for my TR ? ( TR 250 in
my
case). Is it an easy switch ? I would appreciate any feedback.

Hi,

To add to Sal's question, I've been wondering the same thing. I have a
Laycock overdrive unit from a Volvo 145 that doesn't appear to have ever been
used (NOS?), but I have no idea if it is common to any of the British cars
that used the same type of overdrive. Anybody have any experience with these?
I have a '76 TR6 and a '57 100-6 that have overdrive, and it would be nice to
know if this unit could be used as a backup, or spare parts.

Thanks,
