Hello Everyone,
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement, condolences and advice. Some of
you asked about insurance and I must sadly reply that I've been carrying
only the liability and underinsured motorist (which, since there is no
motorist to take the hit, I can't access). So I'm out on the money front.
Looks like it's time to learn to do my own body work, eh?
What bugs me the most is that I work for the school district in their summer
school program and was parked in a small lot open only to staff. Student
parking is elsewhere. So obviously, it's most likely that it was one of my
coworkers, whom I thought that I could trust. I have a gut feeling about one
guy who was parked close by and whose station wagon was full of maintenance
tools. The dents in my car are not immediately attributable to another auto
and, in fact, our security officer seems to think that something was dropped
onto the car. There is a dent at the top of the quarter panel and a
corresponding dent in the flange on the wheel well. about three inches from
there, another, less noticeable dent and corresponding scrapes down low. A
couple inches from that point, there is a long black scrape mark, but no
dent... All in all it looks like a situation that went,
Impact---bounce---lighter impact---bounce and then slide down the side of
the car.
I'm putting "did you see anything" notices in all the mailboxes at school
this morning. I don't think anything will come of it, but what the hell,
right?
There were a couple of you that encouraged me to go for the jugular. Believe
me, if I find out who is responsible, there will be one more sore throat in
this world! :-)
Thanks again!
Will
