There are basically 2 schools of thought on how to add a parking brake to a rear disk brake system. 65 to 87 Corvettes actually use a small drum brake setup inside the rear disk. The inside of the rotor is also a drum. Pretty neat. The other type uses some sort of threaded piston inside the caliper. When the parking brake is pulled it spins the piston and extends it out of the caliper to push the pad against the rotor. Hope this helps, Aaron 91 MR2 |
