Do the mountain >switchbacks get any better than this? I'm sure there are lots of switchbacks of equal stature but it takes a desert to provide the view! For instance route 29(?) in Arkansas. It runs south from Excelsior Springs and has many switchbacks but you don't get the view because of all the trees. Or the highwar that runs west out of silicon valley which winds up past the redwoods and all. Quite a climb but you can't see any vistas except the occasional scenic outlook. Don't get me wrong. I love trees. I wouldn't want to live some place that has no trees. But the desert sure is beautiful at times. (Especially when you are not dying of thirst.) Dave (Planning my next Vacation) Massey |
