I use my 1963 TR-4 as a daily driver most of the year, and I can testify
it is actually a very sensible car once all the systems have been brought
up to snuff (read had enough money spent on them). I've driven in as low
as -6 F weather and have been warm with the stock fan and heater (after a
few miles). The hood, if new and properly fitted, keeps out rain rather
well. I only leave it in the garage if the snow is too deep (more than and
inch or two).
As others have said, however, if you are only going out on warm days with
the top down, there's not much to choose between them. Both are getting
rare on the road, so you'll get lots of looks from thoise you pass (I went
out shopping yesterday and had two long conversations in parking lots with
folks who used to have one).
My impression is that TR-3s are somewhat more expensive for cars in
comparable condition, though that may vary depending on where you live.
Good luck finding a car you like - just make sure you drive it!
