<< I need some helpful suggestions. My 1971 TR-6 engine was just fully
rebuilt. It started right up bringing me great joy!! Them the
temperature just kept climbing and climbing. It is running way to hot. I
took out the thermostat. Water is circulating as all hoses are hot. The
radiator was flushedand tested. I am very frustrated. I will check the
valve adjustments again and I will open up the mixture screws on the
carb. Could it just be running extreemly rich and overheating?? Any
 suggestions from the list >>

I would be sure that your temp gauge is functioning correctly. I've used a
candy thermometer from the grocery store to check. While the engine is cool,
take off the rad cap, set the thermometer into the coolant, start your engine
and watch the relationship between the gauge and thermometer. You probably
will see a big difference until the T-Stat opens if you have one installed,
but the temp should level off as the engine comes up to temp. My 59 TR3
appeared to run hot when I bought it. I was sure I needed major surgery
until someone suggested a faulty gauge. The gauge was indicating 30 degrees
too high !
