Chris,

        I never did the trans removal on a TR3A. However, if it's anything
like a TR6, yes, oh yes, 2 people are required. Especially on the
re-installation,
don't even think of doing it alone. I was under the car( trying my best to
guide), while 
my son was pushing and seating the main shaft into the cluch plate. The
starter was
a quite difficult (I first choise was to describe this in the vinacular) to
remove.
followed in close second by the right trans mount holding up the muffler.
I'm sure
glad I had the Haynes for the step-by-step.

        If you need more specifics, e-mail me. I can fax you the pages from my
Haynes.
