I've never actually done it, but it seems to me it would not be too hard to
make one. I would think easier than converting an old head. I stop by the
local steel fabricating shop every once in a while to pick up a few pieces of
steel for some of my projects, and there is almost always a few pieces of
steel plate, 3/4 - 1" thick, laying around collecting dust, often in sizes
suitable for use as a torque plate. Usually, this can be picked up quite
cheaply, as they sell it for scrap other wise. Might be worth looking into.
