Chris,
Sorry to see the PI is giving you a bit of a problem. I also have a copy
of the Lucas PI manual and it is still avialable. I shall dig out the name
of the person I got mine from and pass it on.
In all the literature, notes, etc I've collected on the PI system, all
emphasize that the electronics is normally the part that falls down. The
PI mechanicals are reliable unless you have a major breakdown.
Since you mentioned cold start symptons, it wouldn't hurt to check the cold
start cable running to the metering unit, just to make sure that it isn't
loose, etc.

My LBC (where the 'B' stands for 'Brumby') is progressing slowly. Got
side-tracked my domestic responsibilites - what else in new ;-).
