Have the same problem in every Spitfire I've had.  The problem I see is the
hole in the pedal assy itself gets elongated, not the holes in the
actuating rod.  And the clutch is always worse (used many more times, and
for a longer throw than the brake)  I have found that if you enlarge the
hole (making it round again), then make up small steel bush, lube
everything well, this eliminates the problem.
