Barry-
I dug a good crank out of a 77 Spit today. Just happened to be fresh at
the boneyard this week.
Motor #FM93669UCE. That is a 1977 California car. The crank will go in
my older 1500 block #FM38848UE That is from a 1975 Federal car. But
now is in my 1965 Spitfire.
Are there any manufacturing differences that you are aware of between
the 1975 and the 1977 version? Are you reading this Andy Mace? Oh
great expert!
The crank appears in good shape and a .010 grind and polish ought to be
all it needs. The car had 63000 on the clock. The motor appeared to
never have had the bottom end opened up. No DPO approved bolt abuse
etc. The sealing blocks were not stripped out. The bearings were all
standard, apparently Vandervell. They showed wear to the copper,
especially on #3 main, but no gouging or abuse. About normal fro what I
hagve seen on brit cars with this mileage.
Any advice? Inof? Knowledge?
Thanks,
Brian N
