Not the thrust washers. I pulled the pan. Damn. There're not in
there. Just a bunch of metal chips.
Could it be . . . Naa. No way. Unfortunately yes. The CRANK is
broken at the #4 big end. I've had VW cranks bread at the rear main,
but never at a crank pin and still run.
New situations every day.
Well, off the bone yard to find one.
Any clue why it did this? What would prevent this in the future?
(besides 5 main bearings)? What should I look for in a replacement that
I may have missed on this one? I did have this ground ten under. Does
that weaken it?
Hope to have it back together in a week. But I think I will bring
Allison's Consul Capri to the Moss Fest.
