Well. I've applied the first coats of etching primer on my TR6. 3 coats of
Sherwin Williams's EG 980, a very good base for the following step: 3 coats
of tinted high-build primer, wich will be sanded with with 400 wet paper.
My arm is already sore from sanding the etching primer... Oh well, I guess
it'll all be worth it.
- I forgot important details about a couple earlier questions I posted:
First one concerns the use of sealer at the seams where the rear fenders
join with the body: the fenders where WELDED by the previous owner! He did
a good job though, but that means I can't take the fenders off... I'll have
to resort to using a skim bead of sealer deep in the seam and ease off on
the paint in those areas. Any comments or previous experience?
Secondly, I posted a question about the right color for the rear valance.
What I should have added was: LOWER rear valance, that part under the
bumper. I've seen a couple of TR6's with blacked out lower valances. I was
later informed that this was incorrect and should be body color. Isnt' the
pimento red car's lower valance in Bill Piggot's book partially black?
Later!
