John & GP
there is a good photo on p.32 of the owner's hand book:
Instruction Book, Part No. 501528/2
Triumph Sports Car TR2 & TR 3, second edition.
I assume that you are fitting the Lockheed 9" units.
The springs are fitted to the inside of the brake shoes
i.e. so the coiled parts are between the shoes and the
backing plates. The ends are fitted through the holes nearest
the ends of the shoes, assuming that you have shoes
of the origional configuration. The spring with gap between
the coils is to clear the wheel cyl. (remember me?)
Last year I had chance to inspect the baby blue TR4
at Sears Point and Laguna Seca vintage reces. I also
talked to the person who has helped prep the car ( he
did some late night welding on my car in the mid 70s
to help fix it for a race the next day!!)
This car has the front fender vents and even the old factory
number on it, but it is a visual reproduction of the
"born too late" cars and has a non-aluminum body.
I most strongly suspect that this was the car in the Reno NV
event; as I believe that they told me that they were going
to attend. As for UFO or Elvis doccumentation in NV, you are
on your own.
Good luck from a TR3 Racer!
