Hi gang; Just my $0.017634 worth. It seems to me that .003 is the high side of bearing clearances. The engine would be a little tighter with .0015-.002" clearance. Although .003 is within specs, it may cause a SMALL drop in oil pressure. I try to keep the tolerances a little closer when rebuilding engines. If only checking for owner's satisfaction, then .003 would be ok. Here is a general rule of thumb. .001" clearance for every inch of journal diameter. |
