Congrats Ross, great feeling huh!
I have rebuilt the HS2's on my spit. I would say it was one of the simplest
projects I have done on the car. I used the TRF rebuild kits and I also have
the SU tuning book which is very helpful. I can't think of any tricks other
than to make real sure the needles are seated in the piston properly and that
the jets are well centered. You may find the throttle shafts or bushings to be
worn. You can either try the .010" oversized throttle shafts or have the carb
bodies rebushed (Apple Hyd and $$$$). Given the rather low cost of rebuild
kits and throttle shafts I would do the rebuild first. If it turns out that
you need the carb bodies rebushed you haven't lost anything because you still
need the rebuild kit.
Good Luck
