On most TR4 overdrives the plug is castellated. The proper tool is a
tubular wrench with teeth to fit into the castellations. One could bee
fabricated fairly easily if you can find a piece of pipe or thick-walled
tubing od the correct diameter.
An easier solution is to tap the plug off with a brass or copper drift.
Tap gently so as not to damage the plug.

Mine really clunks hard if I engage it without using the clutch, so I
normally use the clutch. It disengages smoothly without the clutch.
