That was the story I heard from dealer parts guys from at least 1965, when I
bought my first TR-3's.  Girling and Lockheed supposedly used natural rubber,
while US manufacturers used neoprene.  I wonder if it was true even in '65,
or a carry-over from the immediate postwar days...
