Carl,
Absolutely on the coil. In fact, very seldom will one simply "give up
the ghost" in a single instance. Most noticable coil deterioration is
when engine is hot. Miss will become more prominent. Coil may even quit
and the car will restart when coil has cooled.
Electronic ignition........Boy, am I glad you asked.
My experience with the Allison and Crane
units that are cuurently available has
been nothing but BAD.
I installed an MSD part #6246 electronic
ignition system on my 68 GT6. The
improvement was so dramatic I took a
couple of steps more and added the MSD
adjustable timing control Part No. 8680.
This is great. I can alter the timing
from inside the car. I also have the
electronic tach adapter but have chosen
to run a mechanical tach until I can
locate an "authentic looking electronic
tach.
If you need technical assistance, you
can call Jeff Strom, a member of our
local Britcar club, at MSD Tel. A/C
915-857-5200, or fax 915-857-3344. Jeff
is knowledgible about applications to
Britcars. What he doesn't know, he can
get the Research Dept. to find out for
you.
Good Luck,
