I went one step further and installed an on board system. It's a
five pound bottle of Halon mounted length wise across the rear shelf
behind the passenger seat in our TR-6. It has three nozzles. One
under the hood pointed at the fuel pressure regulator and carburetors,
another in the cockpit under the dash, and the last one is back by
the fuel tank, electric fuel pump and pre-filter. I plumbed all the
lines inside the frame rail for greater protection. Just pull the
safety pin and with your open palm, hit the panic button. A five
pound bottle will give you about eleven seconds of discharge. I
mounted the panic button on the center dash support. Next to the
interior light switch (passenger side) The cost was about $300.00
but I think of it as cheap insurance.
