I'm not sure about input shafts and such, but the bellhousing is also
different in configuration. Specifically, the GT6 starter is on the
right side (Spit on left), and the slave cylinder on the GT6 is near the
top, slightly to the right of top as I recall (Spit on left).
As to the bellhousing itself, I don't know about the GT6 (Never looked,
to be honest). Most Spitfires seem to be cast iron or whatever, as were
most Heralds (same tranny of course). The earliest Heralds were a
one-piece case, but they soon went to a separate aluminum bellhousing,
then to the cast iron.
