If you, carefully, use a pry bar (appropriate size) between the pully and
the tubular frame you can easily create enough space for the belt to pass
though. Try removing the old belt this way instead of cutting if off.
You can assure yourselft that the new belt will go through without the
mental turmoil created by cutting through the old belt and disabling your
most treasured possession.
