Thanks to all who offered ideas about cowl/scuttle shake on my '3A. Paul
Carson observed the gearbox cover helps stabilize the scuttle. Thinking
about stability and rigidity lead me to remember that I used to drive a
different TR-3 with a hardtop on all the time and it didn't seem to
shake as much.

I have sold that car, but I still have the hardtop, so I fitted it to
my TR-3, and now the shake is _nearly_ gone. It's much milder.
It also sets in at a lower speed, suggesting to me that it's not
caused by something like a wheel being out of balance. If it were
an imbalance, it would occur at the same speed, thinks I. This
theory fits in with the recent post re the T-top on the Stag, too.

Thanks again, especially to Paul.
