You are correct. =20
In my experience with paints, I found single stage to be like painting =
enamel.
Base coat is like painting lacquer =E2=80=93 color has a flat sheen when =
painted
Clear coat is like painting enamel =E2=80=93 clear makes the color pop =
=E2=80=93 clear uses a catalyst so it cures nice and hard =20

Single stage is harder for most painters to lay down (easier to hide =
stuff with two stage) and also requires much more work if there are any =
corrections needed down the road. Two stage also results in a harder =
surface. But, no doubt, single stage looks right on our cars. I went =
with two stage, no regrets.

Richard
You probably got those numbers from me.
=20
The problem is that at my paint shop those old numbers no longer =
translate to a paint mix.
Some paint shops may have those old paint codes and mixes available but =
most do not.

This is what I had saved from somewhere:
Ditzler code: 12633
Dulux enamel: 97365
Chrysler #: 75242838
Burger code: 404.1710
