Thanks. Good info to know. I have the original stock wheels from the PO, but
never mounted them since current lugs are for alloys. I may do it just for
curiosity sake.

Per my crude attempt at measuring, I would say the taper on a stock wheel nut
is somewhere in the range of 107 degrees to 110 degrees. That is the angle
between one angled side of the wheel mating surface through the nut body to
the other angled side. In the past, I have been able to get replacement wheel
studs and nuts from Sunbeam Specialties. Again, we are talking about stock lug
nuts and stock 13 inch steel wheels.
Hope that helps. Gene

So what's the correct taper angle and where does one find them?

Thanks folks,
I'll check that. I replaced with O'Reillys chrome lugs.

conical angle on the factory nuts is different from what is on a standard
American 7/16-20 lug nut. An American 7/16 nut typically will have a 60
degree angle to it that will not seat properly on the stock wheel.
