Hello,
As some of you might know, my original 260 went south in October. Cause? The
sprocket that drives the cam/timing chain.
As the guy who wrote "How to rebuild a Small Block Ford" said, "this is the
Achilles heel of this engine". Back in the early days of production, this gear
had nylon teeth, as did a number of U.S. V8 of the day. Nylon ran quietly in
this application, but was never designed for the 145K miles I had on my
engine.
Anybody out there with the original unrebuilt engine, I recommend you get a
metal gear, now the only one available.
Best holiday regards,
Jim Armstrong
