To clarify a little bit.  I bought the dipstick and tube as a unit assuming 
the distance between the mounting hole for the tube and the level of the oil 
in the oil pan would be a constant.  I have a custom oil pan from Dale, an 
oil cooler, and my oil filter is mounted inside my fender.  Lots of 
stainless steel lines.

I guess I was looking more for what the distance from the engine block to 
oil level in the pan should be.
