Unfortunately, I already tried a host of ferrous materials to try to
reproduce the U-shaped bracket, and have been unable to find a material
that matches the characteristics of the original close enough to work.
Apparently the permeance of that U-shaped piece has to be pretty close
to original for it to work. So good luck on making a new one work. Let
us know if you find a material that will work.
The good news is that each tach actually has two of those U-shaped
brackets. If you can find a donor tach, you can disassemble it and get
the bracket from the inside of the tach.
PLEASE, PLEASE all list members, hang on to all of those little U-shaped
brackets. They are among the first things people lose for their Tigers.
And I've given away all my spares.
