If you have trouble finding a 36mm wrench, or don't want to fork out a lot of money for an overkill wrench you'll only use very occasionally, then go to your local bike shop and get one of these: http://www.parktool.com/tools/HCW_15.shtml This thing will apply more than enough torque to do up the nut on the oil filter adapter.
