Inertia switches work in any direction. Unlike other objects (say,
rockets), cars don't always crash nose-first, and on a race track you're
as likely to get punted from behind as any other direction. The inertia
switches developed for automotive applications are tuned so that the
dynamics normally encountered on the track won't trip the switch - I
just wasn't aware you could easily get them aftermarket.

The inertia switch cuts you off on ACCELERATION?? I think it's facing
the wrong direction. On rapid deceleration, depending on setting, you
could find no power after a hard brake for a turn. No fun coming out of

that corner.
