Andy,

Here are the answers to your F4B manifold temperature sender dilemma.

1) The P.O. did not do it correctly.
2) A helicoil is the wrong solution.
3) Burying the sender in a brass fitting is the wrong solution.

Here is the correct solution.

1) Locate a welder with Inert Gas aluminum welding experience.
2) Have the existing hole taper-reamed to allow access for the welder to
start depositing aluminum weld filler at the bottom of the manifold boss
for the sender.
3) Fill the hole to the top of the cast boss with aluminum.
4) Drill and tap a new sender hole with the straight thread of the
correct part number sender (5/8-18, I think) and not a pipe thread.

Put in a good sender and you have what Edelbrock delivered to LAT for
the Tiger/
